Every budget app I tried died after two weeks for the same reason: typing every coffee into it is a chore, and then you get a dashboard of charts you never read. So with three friends in Saigon we built 6pm, an iPhone expense tracker built around two ideas: 1. You shouldn't have to type. Scan the QR at the counter, snap a receipt (read on-device), forward your bank's alert emails to your own 6pm address, say "lunch 12 dollars", or set up an Apple Pay automation once. Every spend drops into one inbox. 2. One minute a day, one number. At 6pm you look over what got caught and close the day with one swipe (there's a very satisfying stamp). Next morning you get a single number: what's safe to spend today. It's your pay, minus the bills set aside first, minus what you've spent, spread evenly to payday. Spend less today and tomorrow's number grows. Some details people ask about: No bank login. Your transactions live on your iPhone, encrypted (SQLCipher). Built with Expo / React Native, with Apple Vision for receipt reading. Free and open source (Apache 2.0). There's an optional subscription for extra looks, travel and backup. Vietnamese and English at launch. iPhone first, Android later. It launches on the App Store on Fri 6 Nov. The public beta is open now on TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/a8UrvT5P I'd love honest feedback, especially on whether "one number a day" beats categories and charts for you, or if you miss the charts. submitted by /u/bkdev98 [link] [comments]
