How do I get my foot in the door to become an OR nurse?

Wait 5 sec.

Hello all, I’m looking for some advice. I’m an RN with a BSN and I’ve been working for over two years on a post-op orthopedics unit. I have always dreamed about working in the OR and I’m finding it very hard to get that opportunity. All of the positions I’ve seen posted require experience and/or a peri-op 101 course to be completed. The issue I’m running into is no one offers a residency or the course as part of the onboarding process. I know I can take the course on my own time and dime but during my research I found that most hospitals won’t hiring you unless you’ve done the training through them. So I’m at a crossroads. How do I get my foot in the door? How can I become an OR nurse without having to wait 10+ years to gain seniority? submitted by /u/gerbatroid [link] [comments]
