Google Forms has served me well for years, although open questions such as “How was your experience” kept returning answers like “fine” or “idk”, and the people who left halfway simply vanished from my results..... And that frustration led me to build chatform, a form that works more like a conversation, and these are its main features - It presents one question at a time and reads each reply, so “it was bad” prompts a follow-up asking whether the problem was the price or a missing feature. It understands everyday phrasing and records clean values, so “about a dozen people” becomes 12 and “right after the holidays” becomes January. It answers respondents’ own questions partway through, then returns to the exact point where they paused. It builds a complete form from a one sentence description, which you can then adjust by simply asking for changes. It can copy your existing Google Form from its link, including the questions and logic, while the original keeps running as before. On the paid plan, it emails people who leave halfway, sending up to three reminders over three days with a link back to the question where they stopped. According to published research, including a 2020 field study by Xiao and colleagues they found that chat style surveys drew more informative and specific answers than a standard web survey, particularly for open ended questions, and that finding is the main reason I pursued this idea..... On the paid plan, it can email people who left halfway (up to 3 reminders) with a link back to where they stopped. And on the free plan with 200 AI conversations a month and a generous allowance of responses, and I would especially welcome criticism of the follow-up questions, because deciding when an answer counts as too vague is the part I am least sure about, so if the follow ups feel intrusive or excessive, I would like to hear exactly where. submitted by /u/Fearless-Cold4044 [link] [comments]
