Teenagers are also the reason we stopped giving out candy. When my mom was a kid it was considered DEEPLY EMBARRASSING to still be trick or treating if you were older than 12 - like, it would be less embarrassing to go to school without pants - so she already didn't like the idea of obvious teenagers trick or treating anyway, but we had a carload of them show up and none of them were even wearing costumes! The last year we bothered, my mom was actually giving out the candy and had our dog with her and she scared them off. She was the sweetest dog but had a super deep growl and bark.
