Former Spurs midfielder Sandro has praised Tottenham fans for their loyalty and unwavering support, revealing that he still feels a strong connection with them.Sandro spent the best part of four years in north London with Tottenham Hotspur after signing from Brazilian club Sport Club Internacional. The midfielder joined for £8 million in early 2010, though part of the agreement allowed him to remain in Brazil to finish his campaign with Internacional. He captained the side and helped them win the prestigious Copa Libertadores before officially arriving in north London in August 2010.During his time at Spurs, Sandro became a fan favourite, earning the nickname “The Beast” thanks to his ferocious, high-intensity playing style and imposing physical presence on the pitch. The Brazilian also enjoyed standout moments in a Tottenham shirt, including playing a key role in Spurs’ historic run to the Champions League quarter-finals in his debut 2010–11 season. At just 21 years old, and making his Champions League debut at San Siro against AC Milan, Sandro produced a masterclass. He completely dominated a legendary Milan midfield featuring icons such as Gennaro Gattuso, Clarence Seedorf, and Robinho. The former Spurs man single‑handedly broke up wave after wave of Milan attacks, and helped secure a famous 1‑1 aggregate victory (with a 1‑0 win away) that sent Spurs through to the quarter‑finals. However, his progress was hampered by a serious knee injury during the 2012–13 campaign.Credit: Tony Mureithi / @tonym_visuals / @tonym_visualssportsFormer Tottenham midfielder Sandro opens up on connection with Spurs fansIn 2014, Sandro’s time at Spurs came to an end when he joined Queens Park Rangers.
