A 25-year-old woman says her boyfriend of 2.5 years ended their relationship days after they arranged to move in together. In response, she says she used a fake email account to tell her ex-boyfriend’s employer he had gone on a week-long volunteer trip while on sick leave, according to her Reddit post by u/Olivia_Sofia in r/pettyrevenge. According to her, the relationship was already rocky in July, as the 23-year-old man broke up with her only to reverse the decision a day later. He reportedly claimed his doubts were a projection of his mental health struggles and called the breakup the biggest mistake of his life. Despite her hesitation, she says she trusted his promise to stay with her forever. The couple reportedly spent significant money and time rearranging her house to accommodate him. However, before her ex-boyfriend could fully move in, he reportedly left on the volunteer trip while officially on sick leave for mental health issues. She claims he had not told his employer about the trip, despite her discomfort with him lying to the company. She says he came home from the trip in love with someone else Things reportedly took a sharp turn when he returned and announced he had fallen in love with another woman he met while away. According to her, the pair had already been intimate on the bus ride home. During a phone call the following day, her ex-boyfriend allegedly said he was relieved the relationship was over. She says he also insulted her appearance by claiming the new woman had a better body. The next day, he allegedly showed up at her house with the new woman in tow to collect his belongings. Furious and humiliated, the woman realized “I wanted revenge.” She says she created a fake email account and alerted his employer that her ex-boyfriend had taken a trip while on sick leave, attaching screenshots of his Instagram posts. According to her, if he was healthy enough to travel and pursue a new relationship, he was healthy enough to work. She admits the fake email account was likely unnecessary, but says his actions made her feel disrespected. Opinions in their social circle are reportedly split, as some friends support her decision while others believe she crossed a line. Some of them also reportedly noted that a trip could be part of recovery, depending on the terms of his leave. The fallout from the email appears to have been minor. His employer reportedly contacted her ex-boyfriend the following day to discuss the situation. However, the company had apparently already decided not to renew his contract, meaning he was likely on his way out regardless. It appears the employer chose to let the matter go. Looking back, the woman admits she was likely naive to move ahead with the living arrangements after his first breakup attempt. She says she has since told friends the truth about the email, as she does not consider herself a liar.
