The Dollar Got Rejected at the Top. Is 101 Next?U.S. Dollar Currency IndexTVC:DXYTrade-LeanThe dollar tried to break out in October, and the monthly grid slammed the door. On Wednesday, Oct 14, DXY spiked to 102.945. That wick went straight through the R 0.702 zone, which runs from roughly 102.42 to 102.93, and the day closed back at 102.53. The next two sessions closed at 102.00 and 101.78. Since then the closes keep drifting lower. This week went 101.97, 101.73, 101.69, 101.62, and then a small bounce to 101.75 on Friday. Markets are closed for the weekend, so this is a study of Friday's close. That leaves the dollar sitting right on R 0.382 at 101.708, on the October grid built from September's high, low and close. So what's more likely from here? I think lower. Price got rejected in the zone that marks a strong bullish extension, and not one daily close since then has made it back above 102.53. My base case: a daily close below 101.616, this week's lowest close, opens the way to the R 0.184 zone at roughly 101.00 to 101.27. That's the red path on the chart. What would make me wrong? A daily close back above 102.42. That puts DXY back inside the R 0.702 zone, and the breakout attempt would be alive again. So is the dollar heading for 101, or does R 0.382 turn into a launchpad?
