The full-time whistle has blown in the Premier League clash between Chelsea and Tottenham, and it is time for our player ratings from Spurs’ 2-0 win.Tottenham finally managed their first victory over Chelsea in eight years, having last beaten them 3-1 in 2018. This time, a hungry Spurs side secured a 2-0 triumph against ten-man Chelsea thanks to a Penders own goal and a strike from Mathys Tel.Let us take a look at our player ratings from Chelsea 0-2 Tottenham…Tottenham full-time player ratings vs ChelseaAntonin Kinsky – The Tottenham shot-stopper made a few good saves to keep Spurs in the game during the first half after Chelsea capitalised on a few of his loose passes. In the second half, he was tidier in possession and produced a fine save from Neto. 8.Archie Gray – Started at right-back and held his own against Quenda/Rogers in the first half, though he did not venture forward often. Moved to the left after Porro’s introduction and had little to do as Chelsea offered minimal threat. 7.Jan Paul van Hecke – Another solid display. His in-possession focus was different here, rarely pressing high and opting for shorter passes to link with midfield rather than playing riskier balls into the forwards. He also made a few good clearances from crosses in the first half. 8.Micky van de Ven – Had little defensive work in the first half, mainly involved in build-up play as Spurs looked to play out from the back. He remained tidy in possession and later prevented a few Chelsea breaks in the second half. 8.Andy Robertson – Full of running and an attacking threat down the left. Linked well with Tel and Maddison, making overlapping and underlapping runs. Created the best chance of the first half with a cutback to Marmoush, but the forward failed to convert. Taken off in the second half, having not been fully fit coming into the match. 7.5.Sandro Tonali – Impressive in the first half, used more as an eight and helped Spurs build play. Continued in the same vein after the break, full of running and contributing both offensively and defensively. Building confidence after his strong display against Coventry. 8.Mateus Fernandes – A brilliant performance. He disrupted Chelsea’s forward play with interceptions and tackles and was Tottenham’s most positive passer by a long way. He topped the charts for pretty much every passing statistic in the game. Booked for halting a Chelsea counter when Palmer broke free (and apparently it wasn’t a red when the Chelsea star smashed into his head in return). 9.Photo by Ryan Pierse/Getty ImagesJames Maddison – Solid in the first half, constantly looking to get on the ball and linking well with Tel and Robertson. His evening ended early in the second half after picking up what looked like a heartbreaking groin injury. 7.Mohammed Kudus – Had a half-chance in the first half from Tel’s delivery but shot wide. Chelsea doubled up on him after the break, limiting his threat. His defensive work rate remained strong, tracking back diligently. 7.Omar Marmoush – Had the best chance of the first half from Robertson’s cutback but fired straight at Penders. Struggled to impose himself against Chelsea’s centre-backs and was eventually replaced by Solanke. 6.Mathys Tel – Spurs’ outlet ball against Chelsea’s press in the first forty-five. He also linked well with Robertson and Maddison in the first half, though his decision-making was questionable at times. In the second half, produced a moment of quality with a solo run and fine strike low to the keeper’s right for Spurs’ second goal. 8.5.SubstitutesConor Gallagher – Replaced Maddison and impressed, playing a few good through balls to release Tel and Kudus. Showed passion and commitment. 7.Dominic Solanke – Came on for Marmoush, led the line well, held up play and battled Chelsea’s defenders. 6.Pedro Porro – Returned from injury, replacing Robertson in the 65th minute. Saw plenty of the ball and attempted crosses, though few found their target – some rust evident. 6.Ben Davies – Replaced Tel after his goal, slotting in at centre-back as Spurs looked to see the game out. N/A.Dejan Kulusevski – Came on for Kudus late on, operating down the right.
