(Photo: Oregon Public Broadcasting)A heroic Oregon father who stopped a deadly school shooting is finally speaking out, revealing the terrifying, split-second decisions that helped prevent an even greater massacre at an elementary school.Kaylub Giamanco, a 36-year-old carpenter and father of two, described the horrifying moment he confronted a teenage gunman inside Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, after the attacker opened fire on innocent children and teachers. The October 15 massacre claimed the lives of three children, ages 5, 8, and 11, and a 25-year-old teacher. A 7-year-old student and a 54-year-old teacher were seriously wounded. But authorities say Giamanco’s extraordinary courage, along with the heroic actions of a teacher who physically confronted the gunman, prevented even more innocent lives from being lost.In an emotional exclusive interview with Oregon Public Broadcasting published Friday, Giamanco recounted how an ordinary drive home for lunch turned into a desperate fight to save children from a mass murderer.Giamanco had dropped his two daughters off at the school earlier that morning for picture day before heading to work.Hours later, he happened to drive past the school and noticed a teenager carrying a firearm. The armed suspect, identified as 16-year-old former student John Griffin II, had begun his deadly rampage.Realizing what was unfolding, Giamanco retrieved a handgun from his truck, contacted 911, and rushed toward the school as the gunman entered the building. While children and teachers were trapped inside, the courageous father moved toward the danger rather than away from it.According to his account, Giamanco crawled through a shattered window and approached a special education classroom, where he could hear the terrifying sounds of the unfolding attack. Then came the moment that changed everything.Looking through a window, Giamanco spotted a teacher struggling with the armed suspect. The gunman apparently had no idea another armed individual was approaching.Giamanco recognized his opportunity. He pushed open the classroom door, stepped inside, and fired at the attacker. The teacher, believing another shooter had entered the room, fled in terror.Giamanco recalled seeing the fear in her eyes, an image that continues to haunt him.But the danger was not over.According to Giamanco, the wounded attacker began scrambling for his firearm.Fearing that the suspect could resume shooting innocent children and teachers, Giamanco fired two additional rounds, stopping the threat. And just like that, the gunman’s deadly rampage was over.Bend Police confirmed that the armed father’s intervention ended the attack. Officers arrived at the school at approximately 1:02 p.m., moments after the shooting had been reported. The remarkable account provides a chilling look at what happened inside the school and the courage it took for an ordinary American father to confront an armed killer.Giamanco has also insisted that the teacher who fought the shooter deserves recognition for her extraordinary bravery.Police previously revealed that the teacher threw her cellphone at the attacker, tackled him, and attempted to wrestle away his weapon. Her intervention, combined with Giamanco’s actions, likely prevented additional casualties.WATCH:Bend, Oregon hero Kaylub Giamanco describes the moment he TOOK OUT the Silver Rail Elementary shooter, preventing further loss of life.“Then I peeked through the window, and at this point I found my opportunity, and I seen a teacher on the left struggling with the gunman on the right with the rifle, and I knew that they were both side to me, and I knew that he did not know that I was there. And so at that point I swung the door out and open, and I stepped in, and I fired, and they dropped to the ground, and the teacher sprang out of the building thinking that I was a second shooter, and I could see the fear in her eyes, and that did hurt a lot, but I could see the fear in her eyes.”“She left the room, and this happens in seconds, and then I looked down at the gunman, and he was scrambling for his weapon, and I looked at him, and I shot him two more times to make sure that he couldn’t move, because I was afraid of him shooting anybody else.”— RedWave Press (@RedWavePress) October 23, 2026As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Giamanco was identified as the armed civilian who pursued and fatally shot the teenage attacker.President Donald Trump also praised the courageous father, describing him as a great hero who knew how to use his firearm to stop the threat. The post HEROIC DAD SPEAKS OUT!
