Mark Selby could be fined for swearing during his live TV interview following a 10-6 defeat to Jak Jones at the British Open.The multiple world champion was furious with his performance in the final and swore, forcing Channel 5 to apologise for Selby’s language.Selby was beaten soundly in the finalGettySpeaking after the defeat, the Englishman said: “I’m just happy I’ve got a day off tomorrow because I feel absolutely f*****. I’ve got nothing left.”That saw Channel 5 issue an immediate on-air apology to the audience, and the 43-year-old is almost certainly going to be fined.It’s unclear how much the fine will be, but it’s not something the authorities are likely to allow to slide.On his performance, he said: “I thought he [Jones] played great today, from start to finish. “Every time he got a chance it looked like he was going to score. His safety was great, long game was good. I’ve no complaints, the better player won on the day. “It was only a matter of time for me before he won a big major tournament.”For Jones, it was the biggest win of his career as he walked away with £100,000 in prize money, and he was understandably delighted.He said: “I can’t believe it. I think Mark was being kind saying I was the better player because I definitely wasn’t.“I thought I dragged him down a little bit – I never thought I’d be able to grind Mark Selby down! I felt really bad all day, I didn’t feel comfortable until the end which was strange.“To play someone like Mark in a final is amazing, I’m usually sat at home watching him on the TV! On that, he said: “I am pulling out because my wife is due to give birth in the middle of the week.“I didn’t stay in a hotel during the British Open. I was travelling back and forth for every match, which wasn’t ideal.“I was playing in the evening and getting home at 1am most mornings. The final was a bit of a struggle.“I have had other things on my mind. But I didn’t expect this to happen. It is incredible.“I’ll spend the money on nappies and toys for the babies. Harry is flying around the place right now.
