Musician Big Eye StarBoss has backed the Babiito clan’s selection of Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma as the next King of Tooro, saying the Kingdom needs a mature leader who can take on the responsibilities of the throne immediately. In a Facebook post, Big Eye said he personally does not support the idea of Tooro having another young king, arguing that it could leave the Kingdom in a similar situation where it has to wait for the monarch to grow into the role.“They can choose whoever they want to be the King of Tooro, but personally, I do not agree with once again having a ‘baby as King’,” Big Eye wrote. He argued that having another young monarch could delay independent decision-making and the full assumption of royal responsibilities. It would take the Kingdom back to the same situation of waiting for him to grow up before he can fully take on the responsibilities and make independent decisions as King.Big Eye said Tooro deserves a king who is prepared to provide leadership now, while stressing that his position is a personal opinion.I believe Tooro deserves a king who is ready and capable of providing leadership now. This is my personal opinion as Big Eye, and I respect the views of others.Tooro succession: Why King Oyo’s purported son was not appointed Omukama – Andrew MwendaThe comments come amid an ongoing succession dispute in Tooro Kingdom following the announcement by the Babiito Clan Succession Committee that Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma had been selected as the successor to the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.The announcement has, however, been rejected by members of the royal family, including Princess Ruth Komuntale, Princess Elizabeth Bagaya and Queen Mother Best Kemigisa. The royal family has maintained that the late King Oyo left a Will outlining his wishes regarding succession and has called for the document to be honoured. The post Big Eye argues against selecting a young king to lead Tooro appeared first on MBU.
