Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso says that neither Moises Caicedo nor Marco Palestra will be involved against Leeds United in the League Cup due to injury. Caicedo has only been on the pitch for 14 minutes this season after missing the opening two games against Fulham and Luton Town. His return against Brighton was marred by a setback that put him back on the treatment table. Palestra is yet to feature for the Blues since making his £43 million move from Atalanta after reportedly taking a knock in training. Neither player will be fit enough in time to face Leeds at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.Chelsea duo ruled out as Alonso delivers injury update “No, not yet,” Alonso told his pre-match press conference on Tuesday. “Still not ready to go. It’s not the moment to take too early a risk. We’ll go game by game with them, but it’s too early.”Asked if Caicedo will have any involvement against Hull City in the Premier League at the weekend, Alonso replied: “Potentially, yes, but we need to wait. Thursday or Friday we will know more.”Alonso said it was “especially” frustrating for Palestra to suffer an injury so soon into his Chelsea career. “He came with huge energy and desire to enjoy his game in the Premier League. He had a very good pre-season, and a few days before the first game against Fulham, he picked up an injury, but it’s part of the life of a football player to come back. “We will need him for sure. He has great potential and will add a lot of good qualities.”Levi Colwill is fit and available for selection, but Jordan Henderson and Emmanuel Emegha remain sidelined.
