After 55 years under the Maldonado family, the operations of Potrero Los Llanos, the largest Thoroughbred horse breeding center in Puerto Rico, has been sold to investor Gregory John Mislow III.Led by the three generations of the Maldonado family, the operation was founded in 1971. Eduardo Maldonado Ruiz, who most recent ran the facility, will stay on as general manager.The 24-month transition process will also include moving operations to a more spacious area at the former Haras Santa Isabel.“My grandfather, Dr. Eduardo Maldonado Sierra, founded what is today Potrero Los Llanos, but my father Danny Maldonado elevated it to become the premier thoroughbred breeding center in Puerto Rico…Potrero Los Llanos will shape the path of horse breeding in the third decade of the 21st century with the same drive, dedication, and commitment as we have since the seventies,” said Maldonado Ruiz.“Our family will continue at the helm of the Potrero.
