A colt by Zelzal topped the first day of the Osarus La Teste Yearling Sale in France on Tuesday. Christophe Escuder paid €45,000 for the April foal.Consigned as lot 79 by Haras de Castillon, the bay is a son of G3 Prix de Lieurey second Moonlight In Paris (Literato). He is also a half-brother to two black-type horses: Bellaciaociao (Camelot) and Czajkowski (Flintshire), second in the G3 Prix de Conde.Tuesday's top filly was lot 86, a son of Van Beethoven and Night Candle (Mehmas). Part of the Haras du Saz draft, the granddaughter of stakes winner Epatha (Highest Honor) sold to €40,000 to FR Bloodstock.Rounding out the top three lots was a son of Armor and the Wootton Bassett mare Maiti (lot 63). Offered by Haras de Grandcamp, the colt caught the eye of Gary Bloodstock for €38,000. Since the catalogue was published, his sire is responsible for Listed Juvenile Sprint Stakes winner Armor Surprise. This is the extended family of multiple group winner Diamilina (Linamix), who was second in the G1 Prix Vermeille.Of the 130 horses catalogued, 125 went through the ring at La Teste. Ninety horses found new homes (72%) for a gross of €1,012,500.
