The final graded event at Del Mar was worth the wait as C R K Stable's Medoro (m, 5, Honor Code-Achira, by English Channel) outfooted heavy favorite Thought Process (Collected) in a battle to the wire in Monday's GII John C. Mabee Stakes. It was Pura Vida Princesa (Complexity) who set the :24.14 and :47.90 pace as Thought Process stalked and Medoro settled just behind her while wide early. Into the turn, as the tempo quickened, Thought Process collared Pura Vida Princesa as Medoro loomed menacingly to her outside. The duo fought down the stretch, with Medora getting the better of the Grade I winner by about a length on the line. Bojaca Blessing (Cairo Prince) got up for third. Medora got the 1 1/8 miles in 1:47.61.Medoro has raced exclusively in black-type company since she broke her maiden on debut in 2023. Already a graded winner, she's placed in multiple Grade I events, including this season's Jenny Wiley Stakes at Keeneland in April. She was second in the John C.
