FPL Gameweek 4 deadline: Saturday, 12th September, 1.30pm BSTThe Football Faithful FPL league code: zog9n6Fantasy Premier League: Three essential FPL tips ahead of GW4Lump on Chelsea’s attackIt’s not often I would suggest betting against a defence that is yet to concede a goal, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say Hull City won’t keep a clean sheet against Chelsea this weekend. The Blues have been absolutely electric in attack, scoring more goals (8) than any other Premier League team after three games. And their first-choice attackers came off the bench to score six goals against Leeds United in the League Cup in midweek. There is a very good chance Chelsea will pummel their newly-promoted opponents on Saturday afternoon, so it is imperative you have at least two of their frontmen, if not three. Joao Pedro (£7.7m) is already owned by 73 per cent of FPL managers – as clear a sign as any that he is vastly underpriced this season – with two goals and two assists to his name. Cole Palmer (£9.7m) and Morgan Rogers (£7.6m) have chipped in with two goals and an assist each. As risky as it is to get rid of Bruno Fernandes (£12m), man managers, including myself, will see the Manchester United captain as the easiest route to getting Palmer in their squad. It is a gamble worth taking given the potential for returns at Stamford Bridge this gameweek and the fact that United face Manchester City. The one concern is we do not yet know how Xabi Alonso’s men will deal with a low block in front of them. They have had the minority of possession in every game they’ve played this season, which is unlikely to be the case against Hull. That said, Palmer is extremely adept at picking apart a packed defence from the no.10 position and it would be very surprising if he doesn’t come away with at least two returns. A good time to use a chip – but which one?GW3 saw a huge amount of chips activated; a large number of FPL managers used either their Wildcard (WC) to get ahead of the fixture swings for the big clubs or Triple Captain (TC) on Erling Haaland against Coventry City, while a few even used their Free Hit (FH). This week will witness another swathe of chips being activated as everyone looks to fix their teams or maximise their returns at this early stage of the campaign. The GW3 WC did not immediately pay off for those who did so, but they may win out in the long run. Those teams likely already have two or three Chelsea players, one of whom they could use the TC on this week after they avoided putting it on Erling Haaland for his disappointing nine-point return against Coventry. Using the WC in GW4 is a very viable move, though. It allows one to easily get onto triple Chelsea, load up on players from Arsenal and other teams that have good fixture runs, and get rid of the deadwood in your team. I was tempted to use mine, but after missing out on some price rises last weekend, I have decided to keep it in the back pocket and will just three three free transfers I’ve saved up instead. It also looks like a great time to use the FH, allowing you to get not just Chelsea’s biggest threats, but also players from Liverpool for their clash with a leaky Fulham backline and Brighton against Coventry. This has the potential to be a very strong play in GW4. Fantasy Premier League – The best FPL team names to use in 2026/27The best captainsChelsea are, of course, the go-to team here. Palmer is the best option as he has the most routes to points given he is on penalties and set pieces. Pedro is a strong contender for the armband as he is liable to score multiple goals in a game such as this. Rogers is the weakest of the three Chelsea picks, but he could easily come away with multiple returns. Haaland remains a good option for captaincy, though this is one of the rare weeks where he is not obviously the best one. United have a tendency to cause problems for City, but they have been shaky in the opening few weeks. The fact that the Manchester Derby is at Old Trafford makes captaining Haaland a much less enticing prospect, though. I would not give too much consideration to any of the Arsenal players. The Gunners are a far better side than Sunderland and should win handily, but I don’t expect massive returns from Bukayo Saka (£9.5m) or Martin Odegaard (£6.7m) as the Stadium of Light is a difficult place to go.
