The BJP has nominated former IAS officer Devasish Sharma for the October 6 byelection to Assam’s Nagaon Lok Sabha seat. Sharma, who served as Nagaon district commissioner, took voluntary retirement from government service on September 3. He will face AIUDF-TMC candidate Rejaul Karim Sarkar and Prof Abdul Salam.
