A nurse from Los Angeles who posts on TikTok as Alexis Rose (@travelingnurse) said she took a formal step against Delta Air Lines after what she described as anti-LGBTQ+ commentary playing on televisions in the airline’s lounge at Washington’s DCA airport. In her first video, Rose said she flew Delta One from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., for work on June 1, the first day of Pride Month. After landing, she said she went to the Delta lounge to get lunch. She stated that every television in the lounge was playing Fox News and that the segment included talk of queer people as a “social contagion,” that being gay “needs to be eradicated,” and comments about gay marriage. She said the broadcast also included something “to the tune of, ‘Transgenderism needs to be eradicated.’” She said her bartender identified as a queer person and a trans individual. Rose said she asked if the channel could be changed. According to her, the bartender looked upset and replied, “I wish I could.” On-screen text in the video stated, “They specifically told me only their higher ups can change the channel and they weren’t allowed to.” Rose, who said she is a lesbian, later said of the situation, “This is horrendous.” Delta later told her the DCA lounge had violated company policy Rose said she asked the bartender for permission to file a formal complaint and to take the matter online if the airline did not respond. Delta Sky Clubs have faced other customer complaints, such as when a Fort Lauderdale traveler noticed the milk was off. In a follow-up TikTok video, Rose said Delta contacted her after that post. She said the airline told her it wanted to speak with her, but would first complete a full internal investigation so it would not waste her time. She said she respected that approach.
