Closer analysis of the performances perhaps tells a slightly different story.City needed a stoppage-time winner to beat Bournemouth at the Etihad in their opening Premier League match of the campaign. They did look far better when brushing aside a very poor Crystal Palace side with a 4-1 win at Selhurst Park on Matchweek 2. But back at the Etihad on Matchweek 3, City struggled to finish off a Coventry City team without a point or even a single goal since their return to the Premier League. On another day, that match could easily have finished 1-1, as Coventry missed plenty of late chances.
