Former Governor of NY George Pataki was on Newsmax‘s “America Right Now” with host Tom Basile to reflect on 9/11, 25 years later.Governor Pataki was in office at the time of the 9/11 attacks in 2001.“Former Republican Governor of the great State of New York, George Pataki, joins us to reflect on that day and how it brought out the best of America,” Basile said.“Take us back to that moment that you knew that this was an attack like nothing that we had seen since Pearl Harbor,” Basile said.“I’m an upstate guy as you know, but I stayed in the city that night, and my daughter called me and said turn on the TV, a plane hit one of the towers. And I was talking to her and thought it could be an accident and saw the second plane hit and immediately knew we were under attack,” Pataki said.“Unfortunately had a number of disasters in the past, so I knew what needed to be done. I just had my entire team spring into action immediately,” Pataki continued.“Reflect on that for us, what you saw from New Yorkers and from Americans of all stripes in those days following,” Basile said.“On that afternoon of September 11th, we saw that love, that sense of unity. I stayed in the city, and I was down walking the streets of lower Manhattan that morning and during the day and I saw people, not just the first responders, the firefighters, EMTs and police, but people from every walk of life looking to help. Going to ground zero, trying to see what they could do,” Pataki said.“I remember turning a corner of a street maybe two blocks from where the towers were and saw a line of people and thinking they were waiting for transportation to leave lower Manhattan. No, they were waiting in line to give blood. It was an enormous outpouring of patriotism and spirit that got us through that day and the weeks and months thereafter,” Pataki said.“I just wish we had that same sense of patriotism today,” Pataki continued.“We were attacked as Americans.
