Xabi Alonso hopes to see Chelsea earn a “boring” win after they failed to beat Hull City on Saturday in another engrossing tie for his side. The Blues took an early lead at Stamford Bridge through Morgan Rogers, the first goal the Tigers have conceded during a strong start to the season. But the visitors turned the tie around before halftime thanks to a brace from Mohamed Belloumi, sending them into the break with a shock 2-1 lead. Joao Pedro equalised in the 66th minute, but Hull held on for a massive result to maintain their unbeaten status and keep them third in the Premier League table, one point ahead of Chelsea. The west London outfit were impressive going forward yet again; they have now scored 18 goals in six games in all competitions. But their shaky defence, which has conceded 12 goals, remains a problem that Alonso knows he needs to solve. Alonso prays for ‘boring game’ as Hull hold Chelsea to draw“Maybe entertaining, but I hope one day you’ll say it was a boring game and we win and we don’t give these entertaining moments,” he told Sky Sports after the final whistle.“It kind of repeats some patterns that we are making. It will take time to fix them. When we get the lead, you still need to be competing and not give the chance so easily for them to come back, especially for the first goal. We can do much better. It was too soft.“That momentum that we had [was lost], it changed the mood. It’s something we need to keep talking and address. We will get better, but it’s having an impact on our performances.”Alonso added: “Overall I think that we are attacking better than defending,” said Alonso. “It’s a big topic and a big theme for us. It’s just four [league] games, but the dynamic in terms of conceding, I don’t like it.“We can do better for sure. When we have the lead, a very important part of the game is to hold together, to keep the distances. I’m sure that we can do better.”Read – Xabi Alonso ‘very happy’ as Chelsea star signs new dealRead More – Chelsea sold ‘something special’ as Tyrique George shines at EvertonSee Also – Palmer played ‘important role’ in £117m Chelsea transferFollow the Football Faithful on Social Media:Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTube | TikTokThe post Alonso prays for ‘boring game’ as Hull hold Chelsea to entertaining draw appeared first on The Football Faithful.
