Emmet Mullins has elaborated further on his exciting plans for the future after the Grand National-winning trainer was confirmed as the buyer of Jim Bolger's long-time base at Glebe House on Tuesday.Describing himself and chief supporter Paul Bryne as “a pair of dreamers”, Mullins revealed to the Nick Luck Daily Podcast on Wednesday that the move to Coolcullen is by no means the limit of their ambitions for the years ahead. In June, TDN Europe reported that Mullins and Byrne had acquired the G3 Gallinule Stakes runner-up Zia Zabel (Ghaiyyath) with a view towards enhancing his credentials as a stallion prospect. That could be a sign of things to come, according to Mullins, who is optimistic that the partnership's greater focus on the Flat from next season “can springboard us onto other dreams”.“It's hugely exciting, just to be given an opportunity to have access to those gallops,” he said first of the move to Glebe House. “What Jim has done for the past decades up there is unbelievable.“To get to that level, and to be training Classic horses and Classic winners, that would be the dream, but it's not going to happen overnight. It's going to be a few months, I'd say, before everything's sorted and we do make the move. I'm sure I'll take a season or two and make a few mistakes. Hopefully, we're still afloat at the back of it and we can learn from it and push on from there.”He continued, “We're a pair of dreamers [himself and Byrne], to be fair. It's something we've always discussed and mulled over. We've thought about standing stallions and getting broodmares. I suppose this is the first step on the road to success, hopefully. Hopefully, it can springboard us onto those other dreams.”Mullins is currently based at Closutton alongside his uncle, Willie Mullins, with space for around 45 horses at the stables from where he sent out a winner with his very first runner under Rules at Kilbeggan in June 2015.The 36-year-old confirmed that the majority of horses currently in his care will join him at Glebe House when he takes over the reins there, with the trainer anticipating “a big jump in numbers” at the historic yard which has the capacity to house over 150 horses. One exception, however, will be the hugely exciting Soldier In Milan (Soldier Of Fortune), one of 24 winners for Mullins during the latest National Hunt season in Ireland when running away with the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse to the tune of 16 lengths.“I'll probably move the majority of horses, but I'm not sure I'll move Soldier In Milan just yet,” added Mullins, who memorably won the 2022 Grand National at Aintree with Noble Yeats.“He's been here for two or three years. He's lightly raced and we had him over a year before we got him out. We know what works for him, so we won't be changing anything with him, that's for sure.“I've had my own gallop here beside Willie's. I'm not sure what shape it'll take in time, but I'd say we'll just be weaning ourselves away from it and, at the same time, figuring out Coolcullen. You don't want to just drop everything and hope for the best that it's all going to work out.“I'm under no illusion it's going to take work to figure it all out. We have to try and keep things running along at the same time, but it'll be an interesting spring. We still haven't sorted out the finer details – it's still in the process of getting things tidied up.”The post ‘Pair of Dreamers’ Mullins and Byrne Eager for More Following Glebe House Purchase appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
