A new helipad at Gozo General Hospital is nearing completion, with Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Ian Borg sharing a photo of the ongoing works.The new facility is expected to cut around 10 minutes from emergency patient transfers between Gozo and Mater Dei Hospital, potentially saving valuable time in critical situations. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)Currently, patients requiring helicopter transfers from Gozo must first be transported by ambulance from Gozo General Hospital to the Xewkija helipad before continuing their journey by air.With a helipad directly at the hospital, that additional journey will no longer be necessary.Works currently underway include the installation of the required concrete, cabling and other infrastructure needed for the helipad to operate efficiently.According to Borg, the project is now set to be completed very soon.The aim is ultimately to make emergency transfers faster and more efficient for patients when every minute can count.•
