Members of Malta’s emergency and frontline services have come together at the Upper Barrakka Lift this morning for an annual stair climb honouring the first responders who lost their lives during the 9/11 attacks.Organised by the Civil Protection Department, the annual Stair Climb Challenge brings together members of the CPD alongside police officers, emergency responders, emergency nurses and others for a physical tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice on 11th September 2001.Participants are taking on the stairs at the Upper Barrakka Lift in remembrance of the firefighters and other first responders who rushed into danger as the attacks unfolded in the United States.“Their courage, dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten,” Civil Protection Malta said. The annual event offers Malta’s own emergency services an opportunity to honour their fallen counterparts while bringing different branches of the country’s frontline services together for the tribute.Members of the general public are also being encouraged to join the challenge, which will remain open until 12pm today.Share with someone who should try this challenge out!Photo credits to @civilprotectionmalta•
