I have discussed before asking how can Brazilian domestic leagues get back to the level that they were at in the 1960s and 1970s and how they can crack their way into being a top 5 league in the world. Well there has been a big anti-immigration push throughout Europe, this has me wondering if this could open up the door for Brazilian domestic leagues to increase their talent pool, which would equal more sponsors, potentially a worldwide TV contract and more money therefore giving South American football a strong standing that it once had. We know back in the day many European clubs did not allow foreign players and some other European clubs only allowed a maximum of 3 foreign players on their entire squad. If European sentiment against immigration continues to intensify, could these rules be re-implemented by European clubs? If it is, then this greatly opens up the door for Brazilian domestic leagues. The top Brazilian and Argentinian players would certainly want to stay home and if America or Mexico ever becomes a football power, that’s another talent pool that would likely go to the Brazilian leagues, in an environment they feel welcomed if rules like that exist in Europe.   submitted by   /u/TheDependableAce [link]   [comments]
