Hey everyone, I need some serious help with mufushwa. I absolutely love dried veggies—especially munyemba (cowpea leaves) and runi (cat's whiskers)—but no matter what I do, I almost always end up biting into that awful, crunchy grit/sand. Right now, my routine is just boiling and rinsing it multiple times, but it’s completely failing to remove everything. I think because the leaves fold up tightly when they dry, the sand gets trapped inside and just refuses to wash away. I’m looking for your tried-and-tested methods: How do you wash or prep yours before cooking? Do you soak it first, add anything to the water, or use a specific rinsing technique? And honestly—is your method 100% effective? Does it actually get rid of every single grain of sand, or do you just tolerate a little bit of crunch? Please save my teeth and share your secrets! Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/Full-Newt1391 [link] [comments]
