HYDRAA to take action against unsafe hostel buildings - The HinduPublished - September 09, 2026 08:59 pm IST - HYDERABADStarting from January 1, the Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency will come cracking down on the hostels being run in structurally unsafe buildings and buildings lacking fire safety.During a meeting on Wednesday with the hostel managements, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V.Ranganath has given them three months’ time to shift to structurally sound buildings.In view of the recent incident of building collapse in Anjaiah Nagar of Gachibowli, and of a hostel in Delhi, an inspection of hostel buildings will be undertaken from the start of the New Year, Mr. Ranganath informed during the meeting also attended by the building owners.He warned the attendees against compromise in terms of fire safety, emergency exits and structural safety of the buildings.
