Powerful Glory, the winner of last year's G1 Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot, has been retired from racing, with stud plans for the son of Cotai Glory yet to be confirmed.Trained by Richard Fahey for owner Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum, Powerful Glory was unbeaten in two starts as a two-year-old, having confirmed the promise of his debut victory at Pontefract when following up with a determined performance to win the G2 Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury.The son of Cotai Glory then enjoyed his career highlight at Ascot the following season when beating eight individual Group 1 winners to win the Champions Sprint at odds of 200-1. He retires as the winner of three of his seven career starts and just shy of £400,000 in prize-money.Bred by Con Marnane, Powerful Glory initially sold for 37,000gns at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale, before being bought by Blandford Bloodstock for £190,000 at the Goffs UK Doncaster Breeze-up Sale.He is out of the Kodiac mare Wouldntitbelovely who, in turn, is out of an unraced half-sister to the dual Listed winner and G3 Summer Stakes runner-up Ruby Rocket (Indian Rocket).
