Delhi Police investigation revealed renovation work weakened the Satya Niketan building structure. Renovation involved levelling the basement and removing a ground floor wall for a shop. A labour contractor was arrested and stated Mahesh Gupta paid him daily for the work. The building's paying guest operator was also arrested for negligence. Seven people died after the five-storey building collapsed on September 6.
