A last-out winner in the Spa's GII Hall of Fame on Aug. 7, Bottas (Vekoma) returned to make it two straight with a convincing victory in Monday's Gun Runner Stakes at Kentucky Downs.Installed the 2-1 choice off a season that has seen him finish off the board only once previously, Bottas was unhurried early as pilot Jose Ortiz lulled him toward the back of the field as Conducted (Mendelssohn) cut out the running through initial fractions of :23.74 and :46.45.Continuing to bide his time along the inside, Bottas was asked for more by Ortiz and responded, quickly narrowing the gap on the free-running front runner. Overtaking Conducted with relative ease in the stretch, the colt was 2 1/2-lengths clear of his rival at the wire.
