Footage of the Naxxar fireworks factory explosion has once again been recycled online as supposed footage connected to the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States.The video of the Maltese explosion was shared alongside a post headlined “BREAKING | MIDDLE EAST ON EDGE”, which claimed heavy Iranian missile and drone attacks were targeting Israel amid escalating tensions in the region.But there’s one problem: the explosion shown in the footage happened in Naxxar, Malta.The clip shows the massive explosion at a Naxxar fireworks factory on 1st June 2026 and has already been stripped of its original context and repurposed for posts about the Middle East conflict.In fact, Lovin Malta reported on the exact phenomenon back in June, after the Naxxar explosion footage surfaced on X purporting to show “massive strikes on Iran”.At the time, the footage was shared by an account called America Military, with the Maltese explosion being presented as footage linked to military strikes in Iran.Lovin Malta highlighted that the video was not from Iran at all but showed the Naxxar fireworks factory explosion, warning of how easily footage of local events can be recycled to fit completely different international narratives.Now, the Naxxar footage appears to have resurfaced once again.This time, it accompanies a post discussing reported Iranian missile and drone attacks on Israel and claims surrounding the possibility of Israel and the United States seeking to bring the conflict to an end.While the text itself notes that some of the claims it discusses have not been independently confirmed, the footage accompanying it is unequivocally from Malta and is unrelated to the attacks described in the post.It marks yet another instance of the same dramatic Naxxar footage being used to illustrate events taking place thousands of kilometres away.So if the explosion looks familiar to Maltese viewers, there’s a good reason: it happened right here in Naxxar.What do you make of this kind of propoganda?Video credits to @informbharat24•
