Miles & More, the Lufthansa Group’s loyalty programme, has partnered with Currensea, the market-leading payments technology platform for co-branded multi-bank debit cards, and Mastercard, to launch the new Miles & More Debit Card for UK customers.Available now, the card gives members a simple way to earn miles on everyday debit spending at home and abroad while enjoying travel benefits across Lufthansa Group airlines. It links directly to customers’ existing bank accounts and works wherever Mastercard is accepted, so there’s no need to open a new bank account, keep a separate card topped up or change the way they normally pay. Miles earned through the card can be redeemed for Award Flights, upgrades and other rewards across Lufthansa Group airlines, including Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Eurowings and Brussels Airlines. By using the card, members can ensure their miles never expire, including those they’ve already earned. Together, the Group’s airlines serve 330 destinations in around 100 countries, giving members extensive choice when it comes to turning everyday spending into journeys around the world. To mark the launch, the cooperation partners are doubling the standard earn rate on UK spend for the card's first year. Cardholders will therefore earn 1 mile for every £1 spent in the UK - matching the permanent earn rate for spending in Europe and the rest of the world, where cardholders will earn 1 mile for every £1 equivalent while benefitting from some of the best foreign exchange rates available to UK travellers. Purchases made directly with Lufthansa Group airlines will earn an enhanced rate of 2 miles per £1 equivalent. Miles earned through card spending can also be exchanged for Points and Qualifying Points once per year, helping members progress through the Miles & More status levels. More ways to earn miles with everyday spendingCardholders can earn up to 15,000 bonus miles in their first year: a 10,000-mile Welcome Bonus after spending £2,000 in foreign currency, plus a 5,000-mile Launch Bonus after their first eligible purchase. The Launch Bonus is a limited-time offer available to the first 500 customers. After renewal, cardholders who spend over £15,000 annually can earn a further 5,000-mile Anniversary Bonus.Beyond earning miles, further cardholder benefits include priority check-in at the Lufthansa Business Class desk at London Heathrow; an annual Lufthansa Group Business Lounge voucher; 6GB of global travel data; and a one-time 15% discount on eligible Worldshop purchases. Gerald Schlögl, Managing Director of Miles & More GmbH, said: “Our vision is to shape loyalty for generations to come.
