Home Affairs Minister Glenn Bedingfield has spoken out following the serious incident in Marsalforn, where a Maltese man reportedly suffered severe burns after setting himself on fire.Bedingfield described what happened as “an unusual incident”, saying everyone who witnessed it was left shocked. While noting that investigations are still ongoing, the Labour MP said he was disappointed by what he described as attempts by the Opposition to “make a political football out of this case.”“Our belief in mental health is tested by our commitment when human tragedies occur,” Bedingfield wrote. “We must walk the talk – otherwise it’s all just words.”He also thanked two Syrian men who he said were the first to rush to the man’s aid, as well as the police.•
