For most of the time, the Kadongo Kamu maestro has weaponized his guitar against Gen Museveni and his NRM politics while glorifying the politics of Bobi Wine-led opposition NUP. This was evident in the year 2018 when he first released his Omuntu Bwakula (which he used to decampaign the scrapping of age limits in the Constitution by the incumbent President’s supporters) and Term Egenda, which he used to console and motivate opposition supporters to fight on as opposed to getting exhausted and giving up after the age limit provisions had been deleted enabling Museveni to rule for life. After all these, Ndugga got beaten by poverty especially after the death of his funder and mentor Pastor Augustine Yiga Abizaayo. He cracked and joined the NRM camp through the efforts of Ruth Nankabirwa and Milly Babalanda who was heading the ONC office at Kyambogo. After failing to land the billions he expected, Ndugga turned against the NRM and came up with another blockbuster titled “Kaguta ovumiza nze.” He was reflecting on the insults he received from opposition supporters online who didn’t like his defection to NRM. Since that time, Ndugga had become accepted by the opposition groups as one of them once again. However, the absence of Bobi Wine and endless detention of many NUP leaders has created uncertainty and a strange normalization of some sort. Ndugga is among those NUP followers who have failed to figure out what’s coming; with Bobi Wine, who for the second promised them a new Uganda in 2026, continuing to be vague and ambivalent from the US where he currently lives with his family. Ndugga, who at the height of his anti-Museveni activism even did a song titled ‘Ekirwadde kya Yellow‘ (to depict the fact that intelligent people cease to be sensible once they join the Movement), has once again pivoted. This time from the opposition to embrace the politics of Gen MK who majority decision makers inside NRM have endorsed as Uganda’s next President come 2031. Closely working with MK’s Executive Assistant David Kabanda, Ndugga over the weekend outed his pro-PLU song titled “Ngenze ne MK.” In the lyrics, he disses the opposition veiledly referring to Bobi Wine to be a food-hungry child who can’t and shouldn’t be entrusted with power. He calls on fellow Ugandans to embrace Gen MK because, having grown up at the palace of outgoing President Gen YK Museveni, the first son is materially satisfied and won’t be out to use the Presidency to enrich himself because he is already rich. Ndugga predicts that Gen MK will make a good effective President for Uganda because his father Gen YK Museveni has also been an excellent leader for Uganda for the last 40 years. He says the opposition actors who are out to stand in Gen MK’s way are materially too deprived and too hungry to be entrusted with power to be in charge of the country’s treasury. Ndugga also makes it clear that he knows that the opposition supporters on social media are going to load data to abuse him but that is all okay and he won’t be regretting his decision and choice to embrace Gen MK this early. He says there is nothing that is going to prevent Gen MK from becoming President after his father Mzee YK Museveni.
