What an achievement! Shawn Mifsud, a 39-year-old former soldier who had both arms and legs amputated after developing sepsis, has raised an incredible €5,170 for Puttinu Cares.Mifsud took on the 1.2-kilometre challenge, swimming from the St Paul’s Islands to Gillieru Bay in just over an hour to raise funds for the NGO. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)Throughout the challenge, he was supported by the Armed Forces of Malta, with a P-06 vessel from its Gozo Command accompanying him and his support team.An AFM rescue swimmer also remained in the water alongside Mifsud throughout the entire journey, helping ensure he reached his destination safely.After successfully completing the challenge and being welcomed ashore by family and friends, Mifsud’s efforts have now resulted in an impressive €5,170 donation to Puttinu Cares.The funds will go towards the organisation’s ongoing work supporting children and adults battling cancer, as well as their families.A huge well done to Shawn and everyone who supported his challenge!•
