Enemalta has confirmed that yesterday evening’s electricity cuts across several Maltese localities were caused by an interruption at gas facilities serving the LNG power station.The interruption occurred at around 6pm and resulted in the temporary loss of approximately 200MW of generation capacity, according to the energy provider.Enemalta said it immediately activated standby generation plants and introduced contingency measures to maintain and progressively restore electricity across the network.By the time of its update yesterday, electricity had been restored to almost all affected consumers through alternative generation sources, with remaining areas being progressively reconnected.Enemalta later confirmed that electricity supply had been fully restored to all affected households by around 8pm. Its teams remained on standby and continued monitoring the situation.The update followed widespread reports of electricity cuts, with hundreds of reports appearing on outage-tracking platform Dawl.app during the evening.Enemalta said its teams were working to return the system to normal operating conditions while continuing to monitor the situation.Were you affected by yesterday evening’s power cuts?•
