In the UK there is a massive difference between a Staffordshire bull terrier and any dog breed that contains pit. Staffies are not a banned breed, and the kennel club recommend them as family ‘nanny dog’. The problem is a lot of people claim dogs with pit in them are pure staffies, when they aren’t.
