It's probably somewhere in this sub but this was years ago, a post of someone who had a mutual friend in common with an editor, editor quoted them like $300 for a month's turnaround because that was the friend rate and the "author" was outraged. In her case she also had a super unique original amazing idea that was bound to be bestseller about the princess of the "vampites" [sic] with a forbidden love with the prince of a neighboring kingdom, so obviously the editor should be honored to work on this for free.
