A hiker had to be rescued by sea after suffering a foot injury while walking through Wied Babu in Żurrieq on 8th September.Civil Protection Department rescuers from Stations 1, 5 and 8 responded to the incident, with teams from Stations 1 and 8 launching a search supported by drone operations.The injured person was eventually located, but the difficult access to the area meant rescuers determined that evacuation by sea was the safest and quickest option.A Mater Dei Hospital emergency medical team treated the casualty at the scene before they were transferred onto the CPD vessel MANUĊĊA.The casualty was then handed back to the medical team and transported to hospital for further treatment.Well done to everyone involved in the rescue.Photos: CPD•
