Man sentenced to 10 years for possessing 2.04 kg of opium - The HinduPublished - September 10, 2026 06:01 pm IST - BengaluruImran Gowhar 10146:A city court has sentenced a 44-year-old man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh for possessing and selling opium in Bengaluru.The accused, Bhagirath Dewasi, a resident of Devanahalli, was arrested by the Girinagar police on July 19, 2021, following a tip-off that a person was selling narcotic drugs behind the Indira Canteen at Banashankari 3rd Stage.Acting on the information, a police team raided the spot and apprehended Dewasi.
