He told anchors Scarlet Fu and Tim Stenovec that tokenization is not something coming in the future. He said it is already reshaping how capital markets work today. His comments came just one week before a major vote in the Senate. The CLARITY Act Faces a Tight TimelineThe Senate is scheduled to hold a cloture vote on the CLARITY Act on September 15. The bill needs 60 votes to move forward.Republicans currently hold 53 seats, meaning several Democrats would need to support the measure. The House already passed the bill by a vote of 294 to 134.The Senate Banking Committee advanced the bill 15 to 9 back in May 2026. Since then, it stalled over the summer due to disagreements. Those disagreements included ethics language tied to officials with crypto holdings, disputes over stablecoin rewards, and protections for software developers who build decentralized finance tools. One barrier fell away on September 4. The National Sheriffs Association dropped its opposition to the bill and moved to a neutral position. That group’s opposition had previously been used to sway undecided Democratic senators. Senator Cynthia Lummis has warned that if the bill fails now, the next real chance may not come until 2030.VanGrack posted on social media after his interview aired. He wrote that the CLARITY Act is America’s chance to set global standards and keep innovation within the country. The Clarity Act is America’s oppt to set the standard & bring innovation onshore. Capital and talent follow clear rules.Onchain finance and tokenization aren’t coming-they’re here. The question isn’t whether they’ll transform markets, but where.Don’t cede the future. The company offers tokenized stocks for companies including Nvidia, Google, MicroStrategy, and Bullish. These tokens are backed one to one by real shares. They can be redeemed for the underlying stock and holders are eligible for dividends.Coinbase has also received regulatory approval in Abu Dhabi. The approval lets the company offer tokenized securities services through the Abu Dhabi Global Market’s regulator. That approval operates outside of any United States law. It means Coinbase’s tokenization business can keep growing overseas even if the Senate vote fails. On the same day as the Bloomberg interview, Coinbase’s Deribit unit began offering stock and commodity contracts. These trade 24 hours a day and are backed by the stablecoin USDC.Chainlink also enabled Coinbase’s tokenized stocks to be used as collateral inside decentralized finance platforms built on the Base network. This allows holders to borrow against their tokenized shares.VanGrack’s public role is new. He took over government relations duties after Paul Grewal departed following Coinbase’s legal fight with the Securities and Exchange Commission.Molly Abraham has since stepped in as the company’s General Counsel. Coinbase has shifted its focus from defending lawsuits to shaping policy directly.Binance founder Changpeng Zhao made similar comments on September 8. He said publicly that stock offerings will eventually move onto blockchain networks. The Senate vote on September 15 will determine how the United States responds to that shift. For now, tokenized products from Coinbase remain active and available to traders regardless of the outcome. The post CLARITY Act Senate Vote Set for September 15 as Coinbase Pushes Tokenized Stocks appeared first on Blockonomi.
