The first edition of Maker Faire Malta was officially launched at Esplora Interactive Science Centre, ahead of the three-day event taking place from 2 to 4 October 2026. The international celebration of creativity, innovation and making will bring together makers, innovators, artists, scientists, educators, entrepreneurs and DIY enthusiasts at Esplora in Kalkara.Held under official licence from Maker Faire, internationally recognised as “The Greatest Show & Tell on Earth”, Maker Faire Malta will form part of Esplora’s 10th anniversary celebrations and will provide a platform for makers of all ages and backgrounds to showcase their creations, exchange ideas and inspire others.Speaking at the launch, Mary Ann Cauchi, Senior Director of Esplora Interactive Science Centre, said: “Maker Faire Malta reflects exactly what Esplora stands for: creating the conditions for curiosity to become experimentation, creativity and, ultimately, innovation. Bringing this international movement to Malta, particularly as Esplora celebrates its tenth anniversary, gives us another important platform where science, technology, engineering and the arts come together, and where people of all ages can not only discover ideas, but be inspired to create their own.”During the press launch, Deputy Director of Esplora STEAM Engagement, Kiki Mizzi, said: “Maker Faire is that moment when a child or an adult asks, ‘What if?’ and turns curiosity into creation and ideas into reality.”Originating from Make: magazine, Maker Faire has grown over two decades into a global movement celebrating curiosity, experimentation and hands-on learning. Maker Faires bring together hobbyists, engineers, artists, scientists, inventors and creators to demonstrate how science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics can combine to transform ideas into reality.Maker Faire Malta will bring this international maker culture to Malta through projects, demonstrations and hands-on experiences spanning robotics, digital fabrication, arts and crafts, sustainability, science experiments and interactive technologies.On Friday, Maker Faire will open its doors also to General public. The Faire will be open From Friday, 2nd October till Sunday 4th October.
