‘Lies And Baseless Allegations’ Will Be Met With Legal Action, Yorgen Fenech’s Defence Team Threatens

Yorgen Fenech’s defence team was not mincing its words in a letter to the media issued earlier today, threatening legal action against anyone repeating “lies and baseless allegations” on the much-debated case which just came to an end.“Various facts that emerged during the trial, as a result of cross examination and submissions of the defence, facts which were previously hidden or irregularly ignored by the prosecution, some of which not necessarily reported by the media, led the court in its sentence to actually order the Police to investigate the leads that emerged during the hearing of the trial,” the letter read.Today’s letter marked the first time the defence team spoke out publicly since his acquittal in the Daphne Caruana Galizia assassination case.Insisting that the jury’s 8-1 verdict “deserves respect and is not to be undermined”, the letter went on to say it’s “unacceptable” to attack a “practically unanimous verdict” with “malicious lies and fabrications”.“The defence team reserves the right to take any legal action to counter further repetition of lies and baseless allegations in their regard,” the letter menacingly finished. What do you make of the letter’s warning?•
