Members of Malta’s emergency services and the public have come together to honour the first responders who lost their lives during the 9/11 attacks.The Civil Protection Department held its annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Challenge at the Upper Barrakka Lift, paying tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice on 11th September 2001. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)Participants took on the stair climb in remembrance of the firefighters, police officers and other emergency personnel who responded to the attacks 25 years ago.The challenge brought together members of the Civil Protection Department, Malta Police Force, Mater Dei Hospital Emergency Department, Malta Red Cross, St John Ambulance & Rescue Corps and the Emergency Fire & Rescue Unit.Representatives from the US Embassy in Malta, Malta International Airport Fire Section, Jobsplus and the Order of Malta Search and Rescue Unit also supported the commemorative event, alongside members of the public.The CPD thanked everyone who participated in and supported the annual tribute.“Their courage, dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten,” the department said.Photos via Civil Protection Malta•
