October is one of the biggest times of the year at Universal Orlando Resort. Halloween Horror Nights is in full swing, spooky season has taken over Universal Studios Florida, and thousands of guests will arrive for fall vacations.However, October 2026 will bring more than haunted houses and Halloween fun.Guests will find five major Universal Orlando experiences unavailable, including attractions, entertainment, and dining. Some are temporarily closed for lengthy refurbishment projects, while others have permanently disappeared. That could force returning visitors to rethink their usual park plans, especially if any of these experiences were vacation priorities.Anyone who hasn’t visited Universal recently could find a noticeably different resort this October, with several familiar experiences missing from the lineup.Jurassic Park River Adventure Remains ClosedOne of the biggest absences is at Universal Islands of Adventure, where Jurassic Park River Adventure has been closed since January 5, 2026.The popular water ride is undergoing a lengthy refurbishment that will keep it unavailable throughout October. Jurassic Park River Adventure is currently scheduled to reopen on November 20.That’s a big loss for Islands of Adventure. Guests board large boats, travel through Jurassic Park, encounter dinosaurs, and eventually escape with an 85-foot plunge.With Orlando temperatures still hot in October, losing one of the park’s biggest water attractions could make a busy Halloween vacation feel different.Credit: UniversalFinnegan’s Bar & Grill Won’t Be AvailableUniversal Studios Florida guests will also continue to go without Finnegan’s Bar & Grill.The Irish-American pub closed January 12, 2026, for an extensive refurbishment. Universal expects the restaurant to return this winter, but it will remain unavailable during October.Finnegan’s matters because Universal Studios Florida doesn’t have a huge lineup of traditional full-service restaurants. Its location across from Revenge of the Mummy also puts it in one of the park’s busiest areas.The closure becomes even more noticeable during Halloween Horror Nights season. Visitors who previously relied on Finnegan’s for a sit-down meal or a break from the crowds will need another plan.Horror Make-Up Show Is Still DarkPerhaps the most fitting October closure involves Universal Orlando Resort’s Horror Make-Up Show.Universal closed the longtime show on May 12, 2026, as part of a major refurbishment project, and it won’t be available during the heart of spooky season. The reimagining isn’t expected to reopen until winter 2026.The Horror Make-Up Show offers something different from Universal’s rides. The attraction combines comedy with demonstrations showing guests how horror effects come to life.Its absence feels especially significant during October, when Universal Studios Florida becomes the center of Orlando’s Halloween scene.Guests visiting during the daytime won’t be able to experience the horror-focused show before heading into Halloween Horror Nights that evening.Credit: UniversalFast & Furious: Supercharged Is Gone for GoodAnother major attraction will be missing this October, but this closure isn’t temporary.Fast & Furious: Supercharged permanently closed at Universal Studios Florida in August 2026. Its final operating day was August 16, with the attraction officially closing beginning August 17.The ride opened in 2018, placing guests aboard a party bus for a screen-heavy adventure alongside characters from the Fast & Furious franchise.Universal isn’t abandoning the franchise in Orlando. Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is scheduled to open at Universal Studios Florida in 2027, bringing a completely different roller coaster experience.For October 2026 guests, however, there will be no Fast & Furious attraction available.Credit: UniversalHollywood Rip Ride Rockit Isn’t Coming BackFast & Furious isn’t the only major Universal Studios Florida attraction that has disappeared.Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit permanently closed in August 2025 after roughly 16 years of operation. For longtime visitors, its removal represented a major change to both the attraction lineup and the familiar skyline near the front of the park.Unlike Jurassic Park River Adventure, there’s no reopening date because the coaster isn’t coming back. Universal removed it to make room for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.The loss remains noticeable for guests who haven’t visited since early 2025. They may arrive expecting to see the giant coaster near the park entrance, only to discover it has completely disappeared.Its absence also leaves Universal Studios Florida with fewer major thrill rides while Universal prepares for its next generation of attractions.Credit: UniversalOctober Still Has Plenty to OfferFive unavailable experiences won’t ruin an October trip, but guests should know about them before arriving.
