Wait 5 sec.

James Bond is entering a new era, with all eyes currently on Amazon MGM Studios’ cinematic reboot as fans wait for the imminent reveal of the actor who will inherit the iconic role. The next actor will follow Sean Connery, Roger Moore, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig, becoming the seventh actor to take up the 007 mantle on the silver screen.Commonly referred to as James Bond 26, the upcoming film will mark the beginning of a new continuity for the 007 franchise, effectively starting over after Daniel Craig’s five films: Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021).James Bond 26 is being directed by Denis Villeneuve (the Dune films), with Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) writing the screenplay, while Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing.Credit: MGM/EON ProductionsJames Bond Continues In Other MediaBut while the next movie remains shrouded in secrecy, 007 has been busier than ever across other forms of entertainment. This year has already brought 007 First Light, the new video game from IO Interactive, which introduces Patrick Gibson portraying a younger Bond. The literary side of the franchise is also expanding, with several new 007 books either already available or on the way. The first story in that series, SilverFin, is now being adapted into a full-cast audio drama by Big Finish Productions, with Isaac Rouse starring as the young Bond.King Zero, however, takes Higson’s Bond in a very different direction. Rather than returning to the schoolboy adventures, the novel is a follow-up to Higson’s 2023 adult Bond short story On His Majesty’s Secret Service (not to be confused with the 1969 film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service starring George Lazenby), continuing that version of 007’s story instead.“Charlie Higson’s return to James Bond follows his outstanding success with On His Majesty’s Secret Service, commissioned for the King’s Coronation, and we are delighted to be working with Charlie again, bringing the next chapter of Bond to fans,” Amanda Douglas, Managing Director of Ian Fleming Publications Ltd, said in an official announcement via IanFleming.com.Credit: Inside the Magic“Le Chiffre. Dr No. Goldfinger. James Bond has faced them all. But now the world is changing, and even 007 has no idea what’s coming for him…,” the synopsis from Ian Fleming Publications reads.“It starts with a murdered agent in the Saudi desert. Only a traitor could have known enough to bring him down. But even James Bond can’t guess at the secret that was worth killing him to keep. As Bond follows the trail across the globe, he doesn’t realise the countdown has already begun. And hiding in the shadows is a man with more power than he could ever have imagined. Prepare for a villain unlike any before. Prepare for KING ZERO.”“It’s very exciting,” Higson told MI6.com earlier this year. “It is very hard to get people excited about books, so when the publisher goes to this level of effort, it says a lot. There I finally am after over 20 years of toiling in the world of writing James Bond! My first big, full-length Bond novel is coming out, and it’s really exciting to be part of the world of James Bond. It’s something special.”King Zero will be released this September. So, while the world waits to discover who will become the next cinematic Bond following Daniel Craig’s five-film series, the character is already enjoying a remarkably busy year.Which upcoming Bond installment are you most excited for?
