Another Apple event has come and gone. Once again, the leaks and rumors got things mostly right, so if you've been following along, you probably weren't too surprised by today's announcements. Still, to see Apple's first foldable iPhone in action was intriguing to say the least—even if it's the most expensive iPhone in history. Here's everything Apple announced today. iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max Credit: Apple/YouTube Apple's iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max look a lot like the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, except they come in two new colors: Black, Silver, Glacier (deep blue), and Burgundy (dark red), which are now color-matched between the metal and the glass back. The 18 Pro's Dynamic Island is also smaller this year, and supports up to three actions at once. Apple ran through a refresher on its upcoming AI features with iOS 27, like Siri AI and Visual Intelligence, before jumping into more iPhone 18-specific announcements, starting with A20 Pro. The iPhone 18 Pro's new chip is built on 2nm technology, with a six-core CPU, including two new "super" cores, and four new efficiency cores. Apple says it's 20% faster than the A19 Pro. In fact, the company says the new CPU is the fastest in any smartphone. It also has a seven-core GPU, with 40% faster graphics performance, and seven Neural Accelerators. The Neural Engine on the A20 Pro has 32 cores. Taken together, Apple says this chip has a 50% increase in memory bandwidth. And now, Apple is connecting the entire SoC to the vapor chamber, which the company says improves thermal performance. Speaking of the vapor chamber, Apple revealed that the 18 Pro has three times the surface area of the 17 Pro, and other changes contribute to 40% better sustained performance, and up to two times better than the iPhone 16 Pro and older. The iPhone 18 Pro has the same battery life as the iPhone 17 Pro Max, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max has the "largest increase in battery life ever on iPhone." When looking at video playback, the 18 Pro gets up to 36 hours, while the 18 Pro Max gets 45 hours. When using wired charging, the iPhone 18 Pro can reach 50% battery in 15 minutes, while five minutes of charging gets you six hours of video playback.Perhaps the biggest change this year is the iPhone 18 Pros' cameras. Apple's Pro iPhones come with variable apertures, which physically control the amount of light that hits the sensor. Apple says in dark environments, the new aperture lets in 50% more light than before. Cinematic Video now supports 60fps, while Time Lapse supports 4K in Dolby Vision HDR. Audio Mix supports higher-quality voice recordings and music. My favorite announcement, however, is Pro Controls, a new feature that lets you manage many of the camera settings Apple has kept hidden for years. That means you don't need a third-party app to control things like white balance, aperture, and shutter speed. There's also smart focus tracking to automatically keep the focus on a chosen subject, and texture and grain controls for Photographic Styles. Apple is also introducing Apple Reference Image, which gives your photos "digital negatives." Even if your image is edited with AI in the future, you can also point back to the original shot. Apple also announced a new clear case, updated Tech Woven and silicone case options, and a new Wrist Strap. The 18 Pro starts at $1,199 for 256GB, and iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299. They're both available to preorder on Saturday, Sept. 12, and will go on sale Friday, Sept. 18. (Note that there is no iPhone 18, at least not yet.)AirPods 5 Credit: Apple/YouTube Apple says its latest AirPods are "redesigned from the inside" for an improved audio experience. The newest buds have a new "multi-port acoustic architecture" with upgraded Adaptive EQ, which Apple says should make Personalized Spatial Audio even better. In bigger news, the base pair of AirPods 5 now gets Active Noise Cancellation, with 50% more noise reduction than AirPods 4 with ANC. The new AirPods are more durable against sweat and dust, and support up to four hours of use with ANC (20 hours with the charging case). What's more, these earbuds are only $129, the same price as AirPods 4 without ANC. There's also an upgraded AirPods 5 with on-stem volume control, five hours of ANC, and a wireless charging case. This model is $149, which is $30 less than AirPods 4 With ANC.Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 Credit: Apple/YouTube Apple kicked off its announcements for the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 with its new "Health Sensing System." This new system supports continuous heart rate readings, taking readings every five seconds. Apple says that's 60 times more than previous Apple Watches. The watches look at HRV (heart rate variability) every five minutes, 24 times more frequently than other watches. Apple compared its new sensors against chest straps and other trackers, and now claims these models have the most accurate heart rate sensors in a wearable. You'll see your HRV in many different parts of your watch, including the Heart rate app and watch face complication, Vitals app, nighttime view, and daytime view. The new update comes with a feature called "Readiness," which looks at your activity, vitals, and sleep, and gives you one of four pieces of advice for how active you should be: "Recover," "Pace Yourself," "Ready," "Go For It." The Health app is totally redesigned, with Apple Intelligence summaries and recommendations. "Health Age" gives you advice and feedback on your health based on what "age" your data says you are, while the Longevity tab assesses your overall health across a variety of metrics. You can also track recovery from an injury, and test things like your vO2 max. There are also more features coming to these new watches. There's "Audio Intelligence," which Apple says securely listens for sounds around you. That powers Sound Recognition, so your watch can tell you if it hears the doorbell ring or a fire alarm go off. Live Rewind lets you review a transcript of what someone just said. Siri Recap gives you a summary of the conversation, meeting, or lecture you were just in. Apple says you can enable or disable these features at any time, and that they are designed with privacy and security in mind. Audio is never recorded, nor can the system access the audio, and speakers are not identified. All data that is synced is encrypted by default. Live Rewind and Siri Recap run on Siri AI, and are shipping in beta later this year.The watches' new S11 chip processes all these Apple Intelligence features. The chip comes with a dual-core CPU, single-core GPU, and a quad-core Neural Engine, "derived from A20 Pro." Series 12 comes in Space Gray, Black, Light Gold, and Dark Bronze. Apple used Ceramic Shield 2 on the aluminum Series 12, bringing the durability from the titanium models. Speaking of which, there are two titanium models (Radiant Gold and Natural), and there are now two ceramic models (Pearl White and Night Blue). The Series 12 has up to 24 hours of battery life, and starts at $399. The Ultra 4 has a larger battery, so it comes with over two days of battery life. It comes in black and natural titanium, and starts at $799. iPhone Duo Credit: Apple/YouTube The iPhone Duo is Apple's first foldable iPhone, and it is very distinctly Apple. When closed, you get an oddly shaped front display that Apple compared to a passport—it's apparently 5.4 inches. You'll also find a selfie camera, and an iPadOS-like Dock on the right side. Open it up, however, and you'll find the 7.4-inch display, which opens up the Home Screen into something you'd expect on an iPad. That Dock remains on the right side, however. There's also a very satisfying animation transition that runs as you open and close the device. When open, apps can run in full screen or split screen, if you'd prefer to run two apps at once. You can drag and drop items between these apps, and can tap the divider in the center to "pair" the windows together, so you can leave and return to the same setup. The FaceTime camera in the inner display is also hidden under the screen. iOS also reacts in real-time to the Duo's different orientations: If you fold the Duo partway, the system adapts accordingly. You can watch a video by resting the Duo like a tent, or inversely like a laptop. The latter position lets you access the controls on the bottom portion of the display. StandBy works even when you're not charging, and adds a soft glow if you choose to use it as an alarm clock. Apple says the Duo uses a nano-texture finish that reduces glare and reflections and uses a matte finish. The hinge has a complex design, featuring over 100 small components, and feels flat and secure even when moving. The A20 chip can reach peak performance immediately, and the thermal system supports extended sustained performance. This phone also comes with Apple's proprietary C2 modem which supports faster uploads and reconnections to networks. The device uses two batteries across both sides for 24 hours when using both screens equally. (You can extend that by prioritizing the outer display over the inner display.) You can also get 50% battery with 20 minutes of charging, and five hours of video playback with five minutes of charging. The iPhone Duo has two cameras, one 48MP main shooter (the same camera as iPhone 18 Pro) and a 2x telephoto lens. Like the iPhone 18 Pro, the Duo supports new Photographic Styles, and 4K Time Lapses. You can also show subjects the viewfinder on the outer display when taking photos. The same principle applies to FaceTime, so everyone can see who's on the call. You can also prop up the Duo by bending it like a tripod, and iOS will automatically take the picture when everyone's in frame. Apple also has some custom cases here, including one with a kickstand—which seems a bit odd given how the phone can stand on its own. Apple says Apple Pencil support is coming later this year for either display. Touch ID replaces Face ID for authentication here, and you can unlock it with your Apple Watch as well. The Duo comes in white or Night Sky (dark blue). It starts at $1,999 for 256GB of storage, but you can upgrade up to 2TB. Preorders begin Oct. 16, and the phone will go on sale Oct. 23.
