About 150 students participated.Balamurugan Arumugam, Postdoctoral Researcher, Laboratory of Bio-Analytical Chemistry, National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan, delivered a lecture on ‘Invisible Chemicals, Visible Solutions: Electrochemical Detection of Pharmaceutical and Agrochemical Residues’.He explained the role of electrochemistry in detecting pharmaceutical and agrochemical waste and interacted with students.Interschool competitionArul Anandar College organises an interschool English language and literary competition.Arul Anandar College, Karumathur, organised ‘English Excellence 2026’, an interschool English language and literary competition. About 120 students from 12 schools participated.Rev. S. Basil Xavier SJ, Rector, presided. Akshara Matriculation School, Nagamalai, won the overall trophy, while Kazhuvathevar Memorial Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Checkanoorani, was the runner-up. Certificates and trophies were distributed to the winners.Seminar heldLady Doak College organises a national-level students’ seminar.Research Centre and Department of Economics, Lady Doak College, Madurai, organised a national-level students’ seminar on ‘Elinor Ostrom’s Governing the Commons for Sustainable Development’.Swetha Shree, Assistant Professor, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, spoke on Ostrom’s work on common-resource governance and sustainable development. About 195 students and research scholars participated, with 20 papers and nine posters presented.International conferenceThiagarajar School of Management hosts a two-day international conference on banking, management and sustainability.Thiagarajar School of Management, Madurai, hosted its first two-day international conference on banking, management and sustainability (ICBMS 2026), in association with Ahlia University, Bahrain.The conference featured 126 research paper presentations. Federal Bank senior vice-president Padmanabhan spoke on sustainability in banking, while P.
