Vacant industrial buildings were not easy to modernize. Their old layouts and structures created practical problems for developers. But demolition was not always the answer. Some chose to keep the original buildings and work around what was already there. The result was a different kind of hotel, where historic industrial character sits alongside modern rooms and guest facilities.
