On 20 September at 08:30 local time, a new explosive eruption was detected through the HIMAWARI-9 satellite imagery.According to the VAAC Tokyo, an ash column reached about 4.5 km above sea level, propagating approx. 50 km to the north of the volcano. The weak-to-moderate eruption continued until the next day at 08:30 local time with the same plume height.
